Beyond Boundaries will be a musical event with a twist, pairing immersive virtual reality technology with live musical performances that will reimagine what a festival can be.

It is a collaboration between VR platform Inverse, VR, AR (Augmented Reality), and XR (Extended Reality) studio Ignition Immersive, Music Victoria, VMDO and Moon Mother.

The project is a collaboration between Inverse and immersive technology studio, Ignition Immersive along with music industry stakeholders Music Victoria, VMDO and Moon Mother. The lineup is composed of the winners of the Music VR Backers Fund, a grant offered to Victorian musicians to work in virtual reality.

The festival will allow viewers to experience live music performances with unique viewing angles, immersive 3D art and narrative journeys.

Beyond Boundaries will be launching on the Inverse platform in late 2021, accessible on web, mobile and VR headsets.

Her musical compositions move fluidly from opera to disco and from the experimental to pure pop - exploring self-image, gender, romance and the power of the alter ego. The audience is placed inside an inflatable space with the imagined natural sound world of Antarctica outside. Two performers traverse the space activating industrially designed equipment, made for the live manipulation of air, ice and water. Audiences experience an amalgam of pristine field recordings made in Antarctica in combination with live performance, reminiscent of sound research conducted on the ice within a polar research station.

This stellar cast of artists includes FLY BOY JACK, the recently debuted alter ego of Jordan Dennis and Producer JUJO, Piano protégé Billy Davis, Young Queen Khiarra, the slick Denzel M, Darkhorse Yung Shogun, Capped with Swerv on the decks and Isaiah Morris on visuals.

Hachiku first entered the Australian music scene with their self-recorded, self-mixed and self-titled debut EP in 2017. Since then Hachiku have steadily built a loyal, dedicated fanbase taking their catchy melodies, highly tasteful, textural guitar playing and shimmering walls of sound across the world supporting the likes of Jose Gonzales, The Breeders, and Courtney Barnett.

‘Man, body, music and light as one.’ A cutting-edge fusion of technology, music, and visual arts, audiences have an opportunity to experience composer and percussionist Alon Ilsar perform his solo audio-visual gestural show, Trigger Happy ‘Visualised.’ Working together with visual artist and programmer Matt Hughes, who digitally visualises Alon's music live, Alon seemingly pulls shapes, colours, and textures out of thin air with hypnotic, pulsing beats, using his body as an invisible drum kit. He brings music from Comatone & Foley's Trigger Happy releases to life, utilising his custom gestural instrument, the AirSticks.

Her debut record ‘Sa’, releasing Aug 2021, has collaborations with Melbourne producers Joelistics, Yelderbert and Bob Knob (HopeStreet Recordings). With influences from Bjork to Anoushka Shankar, it is immersed in a reflective world of different cultures and perspectives.

Since 2017 EP ‘Pam’, they have toured with acts Last Dinosaurs, Tiny Little Houses, Angie McMahon, Yellow Days (UK) and played slots at premiere festivals BIGSOUND, Laneway, Spilt Milk!, NYE on the Hill and St Kilda Festival.

Despite the strict lockdowns, the band released anthology LP Everything, All At Once, Forever in November, and were able to tour much of Australia. 2021 has seen them play sold out nights at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl supporting Spacey Jane, as well as sold out headline shows.

Since 2016, she has released several singles and multimedia collaborations, most notably with film-maker Rachel Feery in the production of a virtual-reality music video for the 2019 Louise Terra single, Nature Calling. In April 2021, she delivered her debut EP, Follow the Moon Into the Ocean. Taking cues from left-field electronica, dream pop and images from her psyche, each song Louise Terra produces is a world, gravitating towards the surreal and the sacred.

With stylistic echoes of Mazzy Star and Angel Olsen, the singer-songwriter cites Tom Waits, Father John Misty, and The Velvet Underground as key inspirations, the amalgamation of which have her leaning into nostalgia, with one foot always placed firmly ahead.

After a move across the Tasman Sea a few short years ago from Hobart, the Melbourne-based duo performing live expand to a full 7-piece setup with live-percussion, woodwind and stringed instruments joining the tour-de-force on stage which features dancers from their greater collective. Their recent East Coast headline tour of Australia saw the team continue to sell out shows after gracing the Meredith Music Festival stage at midnight ahead of Liam Gallagher on the billing to which the amphitheatre was left heaving and punters enthralled.

Formulated in 2019 with what looks like the United Nations of reggae bands, to bring a truly global vibe to the Melbourne reggae scene, the band members hailing from: Jamaica/London, New Zealand, Mauritius, Brazil, Samoa and Sri Lanka. All coming together in Melbourne, Australia to create a fascinating melting pot of reggae styles. Fronted by three lead vocalist, Marvin Priest, Independent artist of over 10 years and son of legendary reggae artist Maxi Priest and also co-founder of Ragga Records. Rik-E-Ragga former contestant on channel 7’s The Voice and co-founder of Ragga Records. Dufty Kere Martin former T-rhythm vocalist and older Brother to the silky soulful vocalist Sammy Johnson (NZ). The experience is evident of this ensemble of Melbourne’s crème de la crème of musicians who are: Brett Direx (drums) Jahwise (bass) Jason Davis (guitar) and Frank Keys (keyboards).

FOOLS perform live with command of both wildness and intimacy, and always an agreement with their audience to put on a damn good show.

FOOLS have received widespread support from community radio around Australia, making the AMRAP Charts Top 5 for 4 consecutive weeks with their debut single 'Birdsong', are recent recipients of the AMEX Music Backers recording prize and were lauded by Queenscliff Music Festival organisers as the best act of the 2019 festival applications.
